PEARLS educates older adults about depression and helps them develop the skills they need for self-sufficiency and happier lives. The Diabetes Prevention Program is a CDC-led, proven lifestyle change program that can help people with pre-diabetes cut their risk in half. A trained lifestyle coach works with participants to teach lifestyle skills needed to make lasting changes, such as eating healthier, adding physical activity, and managing stress. Program participants meet weekly for 16 weeks over an initial six-month period, and then monthly over the next six months. This program aims to help adults of all ages and caregivers manage the symptoms of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, depression, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and any other physical and mental health conditions. This evidence-based program, developed by Stanford University, is held weekly for 2 ½ hours for six weeks at community-based locations in participating counties and virtually throughout the state. Workshop topics include: techniques to deal with isolation, frustration, fatigue, and pain; suitable exercises for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance; appropriate use of medications; how to communicate effectively with family, friends, and health professionals; healthy eating and nutrition tips; how to evaluate treatment options; and creating action plans.

Each session is one hour in length. The class is a combination of presentations, discussion, and activities with others who have similar experiences. Health Coaches for Hypertension consists of eight sessions. The 90-minute sessions include experiential learning strategies appropriate for those with health literacy challenges. A notebook of activities is provided for each participant which the health coach guides the participant in using throughout each session. TJQMBB transforms martial arts movements into a therapeutic regimen aimed at improving: - postural stability - awareness and mindful control of body positioning - functional walking - movement symmetry and coordination - range of motion around the ankle and hip joints - lower-extremity muscle strength. This series is designed to provide a series of topics on the ways in which men can take charge of their health, prevent chronic conditionings, and be agents in their health.
